Thanks to a grant from the Nicholas Sparks Foundation, Mrs. Masters's 7th grade class has been studying about global poverty, microfinance, lending, and interest. Today, students lent over $400 in small, $25 loans to individuals and small businesses in 10 African countries. Within a month, they will begin to see a return on some of the loans.

Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. If you have a minute in your spare time, go to www.kiva.org and register with no obligation to lend, ever. You can then request to join our team, Arapahoe Charter School, and follow our progress. Here's to an exciting opportunity for our students to truly impact the world in a positive way!
