Spelling Bee

Arapahoe Charter School held its annual spelling bee on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Top spellers in grades four through eight competed to become the school champion.  Fourth grade was represented by Piper Midyette, Kamrin Smith, and Jaden Wong; fifth grade by Darrin Fulkerson, David Hurst, and Cheyenne Sanders; sixth grade by Aaron Foreman, Luan Omar, and Jacob Reeves; seventh grade by Gabriel Alldred, Treveon Barber, and Samuel Bish; and eighth grade by Alyssa Genia, Tony Lee, and Cameron Wright.  After a fierce spelling battle between fourth grader Jaden Wong and eighth grader Alyssa Genia, Alyssa was declared the 2016 ACS School Spelling Bee Champion. Alyssa will represent ACS at the Downeast Regional Scripps Spelling Bee on March 5, 2016, at Turnage Theater in Washington, NC.

Cheyenne Sanders and Piper Midyette added to the day’s excitement by having a spell-off for third place, which Cheyenne won.
