2nd Graders studied the traditions of Chinese New Year in Art during February.  Chinese New Year is a fifteen day celebration of renewal and rebirth.  Students learned about the importance of the Zodiac and the symbolism behind the colors.  The dragon is an important part of Chinese heritage and is used in their parade.  Dancers practice for weeks to choreograph their path down the parade.
During art, students worked all week to build their own dragons.  Each one was completely different showcasing the different personalities of our students.
