“Can we go outside, please, Mr. Edwards, please? It's seventy degrees and sunny.”  “Why not?”  Mr. Edwards replies.  Little did his students know the whiteboard was already waiting for them on the field.

Last week, Mr. Edwards took both his Math III classes outdoors to learn about polynomial division.  Students learned to divide (12x7-6x6+3x5-2x4-x3+7x2-1) by (x-1) and (5x4+3x2+2) by (2x2-3). Students used a traditional long division approach as well as a new synthetic division approach.  Students sweated (literally) through each problem and proved in the end that they are brighter than the sun. image
