The Exceptional Children's Program at Arapahoe Charter School ensures that all children with disabilities in grades K-8 have available to them a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs. We have three NC fully-certified/highly qualified special education teachers, and one special education teaching assistant.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -- Benjamin Franklin
As stated through the Exceptional Children Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Article 9 of North Carolina state law require that the Department of Public Instruction monitor Local Education Agencies (LEAs) on a regular basis to ensure compliance with the state and federal laws, rules, and regulations that govern the provision of special education and related services to children with disabilities. The purpose of this monitoring is to focus federal, state, and local resources on improved results for children with disabilities and their families. The Exceptional Children Division is responsible for conducting all monitoring activities and enforcing corrective actions that will ensure LEA compliance with federal and state requirements.
Arapahoe Charter School annually submits a Continuous Improvement Performance Plan (CIPP). LEA Data Profiles can be found through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) website:
Search under Reports and Data for Annual Performance Report. Locate Local Education Agengies column. Click on desired date, which will bring you to the CECAS website. Click on school name in left column.
